My Indeed.com job search experience

The Indeed.com job search is convenient

Indeed.com job searchI have been a freelance writer for many years, so I’m always on the look-out for potential projects. A couple of years ago I decided to do an Indeed.com job search because I had heard it was a one-stop type of search site. True enough, I found that in my Indeed.com job search I had access to jobs posted in other sites. The Indeed.com job search could also be filtered by location (US only) and category. You can even find out in the Indeed.com job search what the average salary is for your category by state. But the Indeed.com job search serves only as a kind of directory for jobs posted in online job sites, newspaper ads, college job boards  or employer websites. It’s like a platform to the train headed for where you are going. The Indeed.com job search will not lead you to its own internal database, but rather redirect you to where the jobs are.

Some problems with an Indeed.com job search

The Indeed.com job search is extremely useful because it lets with just a few clicks of the mouse what your job prospects are in a specific area, and what you can expect to make. You won’t have to go to individual sites and do the search yourself. It serves as a “search engine” for both online and offline jobs. The problem is since the Indeed.com job search is not internally monitored, you sometimes target for jobs that have long been filled. There are also instances when I checked out several ads and the same jobs were posted more than once but with different salaries. It made me wonder exactly how much the job really pays. You’ll only find out precisely what’s what when you finally get to the original advertisement.  The Indeed.com job search also yields quite a few scam sites who want you to give sensitive personal information when applying. Not a lot, mind you, but just enough to make you more careful. You should never give sensitive information like your social security number when initially applying for a job, by the way. A legitimate job offer will not require this until almost the very end of the application process.

Use common sens when doing an Indeed.com job search

The Indeed.com job search user interface is also quite easy and simple to use, without much fanfare or annoying pop-up ads. And it is free to access, which is great. But since the Indeed.com job search is more or less a listing service, some employers take forever to respond to an application, if at all. When you go project hunting, you send out as many applications for freelance work as you can until you get a bite, and that takes times. So my success rate with job applications from an Indeed.com job search has been less than stellar. So my advice to those who want to do Indeed.com job search is to use the service for convenience, but to stick to reputable job sites for online work to avoid getting scammed. Far from useless, the Indeed.com job search makes life much easier for job seekers.
